What is cultured butter?
Cultured butter, more popularly known as French butter, is made by fermenting cream with live bacterial cultures before churning, which gives it a distinctly tangier, more complex flavor than standard butter (in the same way yogurt is more interesting than plain milk).
At Churn Labs, the cream is fermented with live kefir from casein A2 buffalo milk before churning. Kefir has a broader, more diverse culture than standard dairy bacteria, which is why the result is richer and more complex than most cultured butters on the market.
What's the difference between The Cultured and The Uncultured?
The Cultured uses cream fermented with live kefir before churning. That's where the tang and complexity come from.
The Uncultured uses pure organic cream without fermentation. Same attention to quality, cleaner and milder taste, no tang.
Bakers who need a neutral high-fat base often prefer The Uncultured.
People who want the full flavor complexity, or the cultured buttermilk that comes from churning, go for The Cultured. Both are worth having.
What is kefir culture? What is casein A2 buffalo milk?
Kefir is a fermentation culture with a broader diversity of live bacteria than standard yogurt cultures, part of why the resulting butter has more complex flavor.
Casein A2 buffalo milk is naturally richer in fat and closer in composition to human breast milk than standard cow's milk. It produces a fuller-bodied, more flavorful cultured butter.
Together, these are the actual technical reason Churn Labs butter tastes different from any other cultured butter available in the Philippines. Not a marketing claim — a process difference.
What are the infused salts?
The Salts is the Churn Labs' infused finishing salt line — Chicken Salt and Steak Salt in 50g glass vials, launching later in March 2026.
Each is designed for a specific use case (but use it anywhere honestly), but both also function as a way to season the unsalted butters from The Cultured and The Uncultured.
Add a pinch to softened unsalted butter, spread it on bread, and you've made your own flavored version.
What sizes are available?
Butters: 50g, 100g and 250g. For larger quantities (500g, 1kg and up), contact us directly — bulk and wholesale inquiries are more than welcome and are subject to lower prices.
Buttermilk: 250ml, 500ml, and 1L.
Salts: 5ml keychain vial, and 50g (in jar or in refill packet)
How do I store everything? How long does it last?
Butter: Refrigerated, flat in the bag. Best within 30 days of the made-on date but lasts up to two months.
Freeze up to prolong shelf life to 6 months — seal, freeze, thaw overnight in the fridge. Don't refreeze after thawing, store in fridge.
Buttermilk: Refrigerated. Best within 7 days. Don't freeze. Highly sensitive to abrupt temperature changes.
Salts: Cool and dry, sealed. No refrigeration. Keep moisture out as much as possible to avoid clumping.
What is buttermilk and how do I use it?
Buttermilk is the liquid that comes out of churning butter, not a dairy by-product or a commercial blend. It retains the culture's tang and the complexity of the churning process and is a standard ingredient in baking, marinades, and dressings.
Churn Labs' cultured buttermilk retains the live kefir culture, making it tangier and more alive than anything commercially available. The organic buttermilk is milder. Both work as a 1:1 substitute in any recipe — if using the cultured version, reduce other acidic ingredients slightly.

Currently delivering within Metro Manila.
Delivery cost is calculated at upon booking — you pay the actual courier rate, nothing added on top.

What is a pre-order? When does it ship?
Pre-orders are open now.
Every order placed by March 22 will be shipped out on March 23. After launch, orders ship within 3-5 business days.
Do you do bulk or corporate orders?
